because we should develop one lyx? when you and JMarc have different opinions about lyx2lyx philosophy, will we dissociate to the two subprojects lyx2lyx_uwe and lyx2lyx_jmarc and let the user decide? when one of you leave, who will fix the problems of the remaining one? no, even after some fight you both seems to work together. beautiful example of such parallel versioning is the general chaos we currently have with two different windows installers. can you explain me how the users decided which one is right? this dissociation is just pain which costs us two times more work and makes users perplexed. > I'm happy that my installer is in SVN although there is another approach: > Joost's installer. The users can decide what to they ant to use and that is > my idea for the HTML output. i recall that many devs already agreed that its no good to have two different installers. you can yourself remember that after long discussions there has been effort to join both of them - and it completely failed. i dont think we should encourage this happening in a new field. we have failed to agree even on basics - Alex thinks our exporting mechanism is wrong, we think the opposite. the merge you propose is never going to happen. pavel
