Something like that seems the only way to go. I'm still puzzled, though,
about why we have two different ways to get boldface: InsetMathFont, set
to bold, and InsetMathBoldSymbol.
i still wonder how is it that we changed ctrl+b behaviour, when most people
on this thread confess they need mathbf actually.
was this switch good idea after all?
