the more objective term: most widely installed.
I won't argue about corporate installations, but on a whole, since there
are no statistics for free software, the most careful estimates say 20
million machines, and wilder guesses say 30-35 million machines run
Linux. if you count every machine in the world running Solaris, Irix,
AIX, HP-UX, or any other commercial *ix you'll still see Linux has a 2:1
advantage, maybe more. Sitting in the academia, and in Israel at there,
you don't know about the private market in Europe, the US and Japan (in
the latter, more CDs of TurboLinux are SOLD than windows CDs! imagine
how many are actually installed!)
