I usually don't like to replay this kind of questions ..
Solaris is more stable has better thread support , and better support in
general. it cost more money than linux it's not much more secure if at
all.
Personally I would prefer solaris for server especially for heavy
applications (java ie).
And linux as work station.
but that just me..
just note that solaris is system 5 and linux isn't so it good all the
usuall system 5 advatages.
