Hi! There’s a long story behind why we have both “H” and “B” for the same note. It’s not my intention to educate anyone about that history—I’m simply trying to find a solution where I can combine solid Swedish tradition, which is based on the German system, with the English one.
Nowadays, many in Sweden use the British (English) note naming in combination with the Swedish system, and for the sake of convenience, I’d like to do the same. When it comes to H, hess, and hiss, I want to use B, bess, and biss instead. I’m guessing it must be fairly simple to override how LilyPond names notes, but I’d like to do it in the smartest possible way—without affecting other functions. I’m thinking of placing this override in a separate settings file that I can include. I’d like to keep my actual score files as clean as possible. I’ve looked for solutions in the documentation, but I haven’t been able to write those few lines of code I believe are needed. I’ve also tried using AI tools, but haven’t found exactly what I’m after that way either. I’m hoping there are plenty of gurus in this group who care less about why I want a certain solution and more about how to achieve it. I’d really appreciate any help!
