The absolutely simplest way of entering Scandinavian lyrics is in the
common Western European character set (ISO-8859-1).  If you can read
the following line, things will probably "just work" for you:

    Blå -- bær -- syl -- te -- tøy.

(La)TeX notation isn't usually necessary to typeset any Western
European language.  Don't use it when you don't need it.
