I thought was ied to the can't find an init file, is still there.. And
now that I have recompiled the Linux 2.4.34 and copied the appropiate
files, bzImage and such.

Don't top post.
vmlinuz is just a gz compressed version of vmlinux.
I'm not sure how to address your current problem but I think I'll
mention that we never came up with a way to transition from linux 2.4.x
to linux-2.6.x. We had users get a 2.6 based distro and start from
there. I don't remember which version of LFS transitioned from 2.4. to 2.6.

Hi All;
Bruce, Fortuneately, both of my Linuxes are 2.4 variants.. I also found that my
/dev was missing most of its files.. I know I had copied that before, so I
erased it on my hda6 partition and re-coppied it.. It then really took off..
And only complained about another missing file, which I am copying right now to
the hda6 partition.. It says that after coping the files, that the file
mingetty is garbled, which is what I coppied from my Red Hat linux and my
Passwd file is messed up also.. But after typing my root password, I got
bash-2.03 to come up.. THANK YOU to all of You !!!!!!!!!
while in Bash, What can I do or run to fix things ?? or Should I continue what
is called for in my Book ?? I think I have the the Kernel installed, so from
Bash can I go to the regular commands ??
THANK YOU Marty
