I worked on large Xerox copy/duplicators years ago that used 30 or more
of these to control most components in the machine. The only problem
was the unit also used silicone oil in the fusing system and when the
silicone fumes drifted up and got in to the unsealed relays the arc on
actuation caused the contacts to contaminate and made for intermittent
operation. We'd open the relays and clean the contacts and wait for it
to happen all over again. Job security. It's all solid state now days.
