I followed William Wynne's firewall forward manual and have dual facet fuel

the two inline pumps before going to the carb.

I've not read W.W.'s manual but it sounds very much like my setup.  This drawing is VERY MUCH NOT TO SCALE.

I could make it more accurate if someone needs it.  My pumps and shutoff valves are immediately in front of the forward center spar and covered.  See this photo. The stick blocks view of the right tank shutoff.

Remember, these pumps need constant electric to keep you in the air.  Backup of some type should be considered minatory.  If you wish to use an alternator for backup with a single battery will the alternator be "self exciting" and continue to have an output with a failed battery?  If you use a relay to tie the alternator output to a second battery make sure to tie the relay coil to the backup battery and not the main buss or if / when you loose the main buss, like I did, you have no way to energies the relay to tie the alternator to the backup battery.   I wired my backup battery in such a way as to be used as power for avionics / A.H., etc, if necessary using diodes to isolate from the main buss.
