Greetings

Thank you greatly for your candor Larry and I appreciate it.

Maybe if I add a little perspective my questions may make a little more
sense.

As you possibly know, I am in South Africa and completing a KR-2 Build
that I recently took over so am learning as I go. In South Africa a number
of materials taken for granted in the US & Canada etc are either not
available or prohibitively expensive and alternative methods or materials
need to be found and researched. Hence my question if it really matters if
the fuselage is marine ply (what we have is South Africa) or fibreglass
laminate or something else? If so, what are the pro's & con's that need to
be taken into consideration before deciding?

A simple example would be nutplates, freely available in the US from what I
understand but not here. After taking the exchange rate, import duties,
taxes, and steep courier fees into account, they become very expensive so
unless there is a specific reason to justify the expense, an alternative is
looked for; therefore I am playing with things like U-shape cage clips
(used in server cabinets) or T-Nuts for access panels etc as an alternative
to nutplates as they are readily available, reasonably priced and appear to
work really well :)

I am also someone who asks ALOT of questions as I am an analytical thinker
and prefer to understand and have as many facts as possible before
deciding. Some may find it annoying and for that I apologise. If I become
annoying, please let me know as I am oft blind to it :)

PS: My Dream plane would be a Zenith CH-801(or 750SD), Cessna 172 or even a
Kit Fox for backcountry flying and following on your quote; I would rather
be flying a KR-2 than dreaming of an 801 (or South African alternative, the
Ventura) :)

I am also a Skydiver and started flying there :)

Regards
