And yes, Joe is finishing up "Dr. Dean's" plane shortly. I've also seen the same kind of wood/composite fuselage construction on Eduardo Barros' airplane in Argentina. Dr. Dean's is really still wood, much of which he bent over a period of days in a vertical PVC pipe with a vegetable steamer beneath it. I have a sample of it somewhere with about a bend 4" radius in it, made of 5/8" x 5/8" spruce! The skin over the stringers is foam and glass, although Joe certainly knows more about it than I do!
