I had just over 1900. I had got my tailwheel signoff in a Cessna 150 Texas
Taildragger. Since I had a normal 150 at the time and flew it in almost
all weather conditions except hard IFR, there wasn't much to get used to.
I can't remember the last time I was that scared of landing an airplane.
I did 3 low approaches before I finally set it down and I'm still nowhere
near as comfortable with it as I would like to be. Running out of aileron
in crosswinds was a new experience for me. Up till then I had mainly flown
Pipers from Cherokee to Arrow and a twin comanche. The sight picture,
height, and speed on touchdown are really similar to my twin. I have come
to love flying the little plane and can't wait to get it back in the air.
