That seems like a lot of work to take on if it's only to fix the crack
shown in the second picture.

What kind of plastic is that? Lexan? Polycarbonate? Plexiglass?

A question to all who might know . . . if our canopies are kept out of
sun except when flying, do the materials "age" and if so, are some
plastics more likely to do this than others?

I've never given any thought to the aging of my canopy. Something new to
worry about. It appears to be just as transparent and "new" looking as
when it was new, but if aging is going on I'm willing to be surprised.

I've seen plenty of transparancies (aircraft windows) yellowed and aged
but if I've ever thought about it, it was that the Sun did it. And heat
too I suppose. With Sun and excessive heat out of the picture, do these
plastics have a useful life limit?

*****************

That's a heck of a big trim tab on the elevator on this plane. What's
the story with that Jason? Guessing at things, it's up position and size
"might" indicate this plane has an issue with aft CG?
