Jeff, I was told that this is natural on a new engine. The shiny new pistons 
and combustion chamber reflacts some of the heat into the culinder while shiny 
and new but once there is a carbon buildup (dull and black) more heat is 
absorbed into the heads. If you want to try an experiment take one head off, 
polish everything up and see if you get a split L to R.

Its strange because I do not remember having high oil temps problems the first 
50 hours or so of flying the plane.
