Glass the wing so there is only a 1/8" gap except for the 1" X 3" area by
the fittings.  Silicone the 1/8" gap and mold fiberglass inserts that fit
flush in the 1" X 3" cutouts.

That is the way mine was with the exception that I had not made the
fiberglass inserts yet.  I was still using the original covers for the holes
which were made of aluminum rectangles a little biger than the holes with
tabs on the inside and two springs inside to squeeze them to the wings.

OK, I've already heard all the ways to fill the stub-to-outer wing gap, but
it wouldn't hurt to hear 'em all again.  I've just stuck the wings on and I
recall that I need to fill that 1" gap that I need to do something about...
