Dear Friends,

Great.

This debate is finally reaching a useful beginning. I like the
suggestion by Raj that we should discuss using/migrating to FLOSS
databases.

I have been asking people on their experience with PostgreSQL and
SAPDB. Also, can I request some one with leased line to download SAPDB
(both win and Li) and its documentation + various tools?

I've been able to locate references of SAPDB being used for over 800
commercial installations (SAPDB site) but very little on PostgreSQL.

The databases are one of the basic building blocks of enterprise (read
business) apps and acceptability of Linux improves if business apps
can be developed on Linux.

I also feel that there is a scope for promoting apps like Kalkulate.
These are the applications which will make Linux acceptable beyond
webserver/mailserver/proxy use.

Best regards,
 Atul
