At least that is what dishnet says. Also dishnet has some of the weirdest pricing schemes for any kind of broadband connection that I have seen. They advertize an always on connection priced on a per hour basis. This sounds absurd. Their other plans have a very low monthly data transfer cap. 1-2GB is something that u can download very easily in a month if you are a heavy net user (and this includes web surfing, all those pesky pop under/popup ads, etc!!)

Does it work with standard PPOE > daemons on Linux, or do we have a custom dialer in Linux ? > - How is their uptime and bandwidth during regular hours? And in the night? > - In general how is their "customer support" ? Can't say much about these, but initial reports of dishnet used to be very bad. Try and see if you can get a different cable provider, or if you can manage to get your cable provider to upgrade you to a better class with guranteed bandwidth!! I have yet to see some1 who is happy with dishnet. > P.S. It is pathetic how decent bandwidth is still hard to come by in the > nation capital even for people who are willing to pay the price. It actually depends on what you call decent bandwidth for people willing to pay the price.. If you need good quality bandwidth and you are willing to pay the price for that, then you can always get a leased line. They are typically priced very higher than conventional cable/DSL links, but you can get them. And it is quite easy to get a leased line nowadays with providers on microwave links, traditional leased lines thru mtnl, DSL links, cable links or fiber links. ================================================ To subscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with subscribe in subject header To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header Archives are available at http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd%40wpaa.org =================================================
