Hello iyzsong, > Well, g-golf is deprecated by guile-g-golf here, so guile-g-golf is > the correct name..
Sorry, guile-g-golf can't be a correct name. it actually is an incorrect name 'by definition' - there is only one correct name, GNU G-Golf, abreviated in all distro (but guix) as g-golf x.y.z. > In Guix program languages specified libraries are named with the > language as prefix, eg: python-six, perl-dbix-simple, and > guile-g-golf. Guix should not do this. I was once told Guix does this to copy the way python name his packages ... But normal distro do not apply this rather weird rule - just do not, ever ever, rename upstream projects, whether libs or apps. Beside, you (Guix) are not being consistent, I see, just to name one, you have g-wrap, not guile-g-wrap. > It should be clear that for 'guile-g-golf' you would use g-golf as a > guile library for the current 'guile'; and for 'guile2.2-g-golf', you > would use g-golf as a guile library for 'guile-2.2'. It is very clear, w/t this 'guix only' rule, for any g-golf user (who are by definition developers), on any platform, any where in the world, that they would program their own lib/app using guile ... Please reconsider, Thanks, David Beside, as it appears you do not know, G-Golf is an acronym that itself constains Guile.
