My apologies - I did forget to include the App version data:

Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Version 22H2
OS build 19045.5011

GnuCash
Version: 5.8
Build ID: 5.8+(2024-07-06)
Finance::Quote: 1.62

== I am the only user.
== I only use GnuCash on this computer.
== This issue started on Oct 26 with the first receipt of the error message.

Due to space restrictions on my C:\, which I have reserved wholly for my
Operating System usage (no application/programs installed on C:\ if I can
manage that), all my applications/programs and data are installed and kept
on my D:\ drive, where the applications/programs are installed at the first
level D:\ and the data at the second level
D:\Dropbox\Application-programName\data.

I have been using this particular strategy since I started using Dropbox in
2014 - so, 10 years.
The implication here is that if other programs can work this way, GnuCash
should be able to do so as well.

I have checked whether GnuCash is running using the Windows Task Manager to
check for any occurrence of GC processes.
== Task Manager shows GC under the "Apps" running as a 32-bit app when I
have GC open and operational.
== In a previous message I indicated that I had shut GC down and there was
nothing in Windows Task Manager to indicate that any component was still
running.

If I need to update the GC program:

   1. where do I find the documentation outlining the process and
   2. where do I source the most recent release

Thanks!
