Removing the .lck file in your data directory before trying to re-open might do 
the trick. Normally choosing ‘open anyway’ will do this for you, but perhaps it 
is getting stuck. Also, be sure you are not accidentally opening a backup file. 
(contains a date string in the filename) Be certain to open GnuCash first, 
instead of double-clicking the data file. Verify the file name at the top of 
the window is what you want, else use File > Open to get to the correct one.
