I quoted the relevant bits. There has been communication here about it
as well as elsewhere.

What was said here is that systemd did not support this. It does. Now we
can twist words that sometimes "Gentoo" does not mean Gentoo. That
systemd sometimes means as packaged by Gentoo and sometimes upstream.

Poor behaviour!

And yeah, the separate /usr has been mentioned as not to be a problem
(meaning: it works) by the Debian developers when that claim was made on
their list. Furthermore this has found not to be a problem by the Mageia
contributor + QA team. Anyway, this is all happened before this
announcement and the emails in this thread where it was again repeated.
This is a little bit too much IMO to not speak up.
