Yes, separate windows definitely much better IMO. I think the trend towards one big window has been adopted on the Mac because of the iPad/iOS. This is silly IMO because iPad’s only have one screen but on a Mac you can have lots of screens - I have 4 on my main development machine and having one big window is a real pain.
