I have an 83 LF with the ZF Hurth mated to a Westerbeke 27. I have zero issues with the engine and transmission. One thing I like about the Hurth is you can go from forward directly to reverse. The kids would forget to pause in neutral when they were younger. We are 4 (2 fully grown teens) and are not liveaboards. We’re 2 on port / starboard, 1 in the Vberth and my wife usually claims the quarter berth when we cruise on Lake Ontario. If my kids bring a friend then they’ll pair up fore and aft. It’s gets tight though and we don’t cruise with 6 on board. I’d move up to a 44 if we wanted to do longer term cruising, but she’s perfect for where we are and the Canadian sailing season. Costs go way up per foot at the slip and winter storage beyond 38 feet. /John On Jul 2, 2025, at 6:05 PM, ed vanderkruk via CnC-List <cnc-list@cnc-list.com> wrote:
