Hi,

1)
We are 5-9 & 5-8, and we found the v-berth was best with head forward but it
was a little cramped. The quarter birth is roomer but one has to climb over
the other to get out which can be a pain. But all that was before I converted
the port settee to a pull out bunk so that the side cushions extend the bed
out. The conversion was rather easy and this is all we use now. If
interested I can provide further details.

You can see a photo of it extended down in a partial post (i.e. photos only) on
my Reupholstering Cabin Cushions:

2) I have had no issues with the Walter v-drive. I misalignment can cause the
seals to leak, so I aligned it well using feeler gauges ands it has been a
non-issue. My Paragon transmission came with a metal tag for Transmission
Marine, Inc(marinegears.com). I ordered a new dipstick and chatted a bit with
them about both the Paragon and Walter v-drive. Very nice people. Apparently,
the metal tag indicated that they had rebuild the Paragon as some point. If I
had a problem with either the v-drive or transmission, I would definitely
contact them. You may want to give them a call and ask about rebuild or
replacement options.
