Hi Joe,
1. Both berths are tight at the foot and best for 1 unless you don't mind sharing space. I modified the starboard cabinet in the v-berth to lengthen it, but I'm 6'4". 2. The only issue I've ever had with the V-drive is the Paragon transmission leaking oil into it. That was solved by replacing the seals in the transmission. Parts are rare.
