What Dennis says is true, soft impact and no threat to the fingers. However, being the brilliant boat genius that I am I mounted it on the forward bulkhead so it would blow cool air coming into the forward hatch down into the vee birth. I thought I was pretty clever until I went to get out of the birth and almost caught a blade in the EYE. turns out it wasn't such a brilliant solution after all.
