Yesterday I spent a lot of time at Gander Mountain when I should have been Christmas Shopping.
I discovered a really slick tool I didn't know existed that is going to be indispensible on my boat , split ring pliers. http://www.rapala.com/Fishing-Tools/rapala-toolsAndMore-fishingTools,default ,sc.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuUPeVeyxnk Every year it is tougher and tougher to put those little split rings on my life lines and battcars, I guess my nails are whimpier than they used to be. I was so impressed, I got two pair, the mini and regular long nose. And they work! Unfortunately it may not replace my needle nose pliers, as they have this little snaggle tooth on one end. They even sell some very small split rings that are nicer than I have been able to find recently, seems over the last 15 or 20 years when these (Marine Store) rings started coming in offshore they are no longer spring tempered and deform too easily. These fish lure ones,(#7, the biggest I could find, still only 7/16" ID) actually come with a 50# rating. After getting so excited about my find, my girlfriend said, 'oh yeah, I have some of those for jewelry beads in the other room'! Bill Coleman C&C 39 animated_favicon1
