My MaxProp manual on page 9 says:
"When the engine has stopped, if the shaft is still spinning engage the
transmission in reverse to stop the freewheeling."

This from a google search:

UNIVERSAL DIESEL WITH HURTH TRANSMISSION Model HBW-50 (2:1)
Used on Models 12, M2-12, M-18, M3-20, M4-30, M25 and M-25XP

CAUTION
DO NOT LEAVE GEAR IN FORWARD WHEN SAILING. GEAR MUST BE IN NEUTRAL FOR FREE
WHEELING OR SHIFTED INTO REVERSE TO LOCK PROPELLER WHILE SAILING.

=======================================================================

A tip from Universal owner's manual I wanted to share from the "Stopping
Engine" section:
1) Place Throttle in idle position
2) Place shifter in Neutral.
3) Leave engine idle for 1 to 2 minutes for cool down.
4) Pull the Engine Stop cable, then turn off key

Neutral is not a good idea! The prop will free wheel which will create drag and
with many transmissions, the oil pump is driven from the input shaft. Thus you
have a spinning shaft without lubrication. Hirth transmissions recommend
reverse. I have done this for 13 years with a Hirth transmission and a Max-Prop
with no problems.
