My boat's Signet Smartpak displays died a few years ago. Not having instruments that could show depth, speed, etc, made us better seat of the pants sailors. After a year, I bought the TackTick Solar system T104 and took another year to get it all installed. I love the displays and upgraded sensors. They provide two brackets for each, so you can mount them inside when not sailing. Especially when waiting out a storm front, inside a cozy cabin with a Dark and Stormy. The speedo is easier to remove after sailing, due to the built in flapper in the thru-hull.
I think Nexus or B&G might be better systems if you have the bucks, but are so much more expensive, not justifiable to me. I'd rather have other toys. Boats around here are susceptible to theft and I love to take my Garmin 640 and TackTick displays below where they can only be seen inside the cabin, very cool. The cheaper system requires 12VDC for the displays. The displays receive the data wirelessly, but need two wires to power the LCD.
