Check and see if your Desktop activity setting were changed by: 1) right-click somewhere on empty Desktop space 2) click on "Folder View Activity Settings" -- a new window opens 3) click on icon Activity in the left pane 4) if you want the behaviour of KDE 3.5, I recommend you set Type to "Folder View" (Desktop View is quite different); press Apply button 5) click on icon Location in the left pane 6) KDE 3.5 location to display the desktop is by using folder Desktop. Verify that "Show the Desktop folder" is clicked, press Apply.
