Hey Robert,

I've failed the test twice so far and I know its not any fun. Right now I would suggest you spend some time doing some of the stuff you haven't been able to do because of the studying. Try not to beat yourself up (to much), and get some distance.

Remember the test isn't just you verses the routers, its you verses yourself too. I thought I came close to passing the last time I took the test, but I didn't (I'm not even brave enough to share my scores). Narbik told me to do what I just told you, and then come back to it. Once I did I realized what I did wrong, some of it was technical and some was mindset or making assumptions about what I thought the proctor wanted rather than asking.

I'm new here on the list, just a few days now. So I don't want to come across presumptuous in offering advice. But its going to feel so much better when you pass it the next time,. Past defeats make victory sweeter.

Warmest Regards,
Terry

I failed miserably.

I thought I did well til I got my score.

Zero on qos
Zero on ios features
25 on bgp.

I thought I nailed all these topics. I don't understand how I got zero points.

So much 10 years of experience and one solid year of cramming of the exam.

Hello Joe,

Any word on this?

I'm just curious to know how you are able to do Trunking on a 10-BaseT interface.

I thought that wasn't possible. At least not on a 2610!

I've tried with several IOS versions including the latest one (12.3.26) and the "encapsulation" command is not available.

Please let me know. Thank you!

    Hi Carlos,

As soon as I can get access to a Proctor Labs rack, I will let you
    know.

            Hello Joe,

Could you please tell me what IOS version you use in your
            2610 BB Routers?

Labs Vol 3.9 & 3.10 use encapsulation dot1q on the
            Ethernet interfaces on these Routers.

But so far I have NOT found an IOS version that allows
            do1Q on an Ethernet interface.
I thoughy you could only do that with a Fast Ethernet
            interface.

Could you please let me know?

            Thank you!

                Hey Terry,

Well, in our topology we have Cat2-Cat4 as 3560 like
                you said. I would have
to go through every lab and really see if there are
                any situations where you
HAVE to have a 3560 to do something on a particular
                switch.

                Regards,

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_RS] Question about topology

                Hi Guys,

I use dynamips and 4 real switches in my personal
                rack. I have 2 3550's
                and 2 3560's. I see that the Version 11 Workbook 1
                topology has 3
3560's, well that's not happening financially over
                here for quite
sometime (if ever if my wife is to be believed). My
                question is where
should I use the 2 3560's to get the best coverage of
                capabilities? I
have to assume it will make a difference on some of
                the Switching labs,
but I don't see a huge impact on the layer 3 stuff
                other than IPv6.

                Thanks,
                Terry
