Katrina was only a Cat III storm when it hit New Orleans. Cat III storms
have been threatening New Orleans every few years. For the last 25 years of
following hurricanes, since I lived on the Gulf Coast, I have been hearing
that NO is an accident waiting to happen.  The fact that it finally happened
does not affect global warming.

Further, while the death of <2000 people was truly tragic, it pales in
comparison to other deaths due to natural causes.  Wasn't the tsunami that
killed hundreds of thousands within a year of that date?
