I agree with Owen. I had a Sole Proprietorship in Missouri for 35 years in 2009 and ARIN refused me resources until I had something registered with Missouri Secretary of State which forced the cost of forming an LLC. ARIN also would not not accept business fictitious name filed with the State. Yes that is what Missouri calls it. Also in Missouri while the Secretary of State allows an LLC of 1 member, The Department of Revenue requires 2 members even if one is passive. Then a 2 member LLC has different filing requirements with the IRS than a Sole Proprietor. Almost doubles the cost of tax preparation.
I was registered with with Missouri Department of Revenue and IRS for over 35 years at the time as an Individual Business. Too me it was onerous and cost several hundred dollars to form LLC and register with Secretary of State. Last time I paid and accountant and lawyer I would consider it onerous when not required in the State of Missouri.
