As I recall, adding the "awarded" trigger was to make it work for Gray
ribbons.

Also, the award doesn't affect it *in this particular case* because
Transparent can't be awarded within 7 days of Raising a Banner, and the
lookback window is also 7 days. So, any events that count for
Transparent must happen after the Banner.
