I think this may be a bug in the Transparent Ribbon. It was intended to trigger off events that could earn you a ribbon whether or not you had the ribbon already, so that gaining ribbons doesn't get in the way of going for a Transparent – the bug is that if you don't have the ribbon, giving yourself the ribbon resets the timer, thus making it count for up to almost 14 days (if you award yourself the ribbon right at the end of the time period) rather than 7. That said, it may be hard to come up with a succinct wording to fix the issue, and some people may potentially consider the "bonus time" for a new ribbon to be a feature rather than a bug. -- ais523
