I think it is a pretty far stretch to indicate that a contest be in
effect for 72 hours to accommodate this requirement. It would seem
that logically as long as any first-class player can join the contest
while it is in effect (regardless of the duration of time it is in
effect) then it has satisfied this requirement. A contest that exists
for only one second has still allowed any first-class player to join.
The action of joining is permitted, albeit practically impossible.
