I worked in the basement of a bank in a tech startup in Quincy Illinois 30+
years ago. Dumb kid watched the movie point break a bunch of times and came to
rob the bank. But he failed to do it the way the movie teaches you. One of
the bank customers got killed. There was a standoff that lasted hours. I hid
in various parts of the bank and eventually escaped through a tunnel that came
up in a teller doghouse in the drive through. One of my co-workers was in the
lobby when the guy came in and was marched around by the kid at the point of a
shotgun for a bit. The guy was able to make a break for it when marching down
a hallway that had a side hallway that exited outside.
He was very stressed and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The hospital
was very full that day so they put him on the 5th floor (as I recall). That is
normally the floor for psychological issues. Then an odd mechanism kicked into
gear – they reported that he had been admitted to the 5th floor to someone,
some agency and that agency took away his FOID card.
This guy was a huge outdoorsman. Did every kind of hunting and fishing you can
think of. It just about killed him. He got lots of press. I think that maybe
even Paul Harvey did a piece on him.
Took months but he eventually got it back.

Are those the states where nobody noticed when they replaced Bo and Luke with
Coy and Vance?

As far as owning a gun in Chicago, I believe most of those rules are set by the
state. Illinois requires a FOID card. I’m not aware of any prohibition
against OWNING a gun in the City of Chicago. I don’t believe open carry is
allowed. Concealed carry is allowed with a FOID card but prohibited in
schools, bars and on CTA trains. Business owners can post a state approved
sign saying guns are not allowed in their establishment. Bars
(consumption-on-premises establishments) are required to post such a sign.

Try owning a gun in LA, Chicago, or NYC. When you're arrested and thrown in
jail I want to hear you cry "but it's a constitutional right".

Pretty sure all state allow gun ownership as it is a constitutional right.
Some try to restrict it, but a lot of those cases will be making their way to
the SC this year.
