  It might not be utterly worhless, tho. As with aerial, permits and easements 
are in place. That's not nothing.
  More interestingly, you can blow out the core from coax and replace it with 
fiber. Then there are various pipe/cable bursting techniques. Perhaps an 
enterprising individual could leverage one of those approaches to replace the 
direct burial multimode cable with a modern smaller singlemode cable.
