The thing is, Tesla seems to be trying very hard to not behave like a car company... and a lot of the time, it seems like they do things the way they do just for the sake of being different. I never dealt with the sales side of Tesla (I bought mine used from local dealer), but I have to say that dealing with the service center was, overall, a pretty good experience. The people there went out of their way to be helpful.
