It's gpl. Just as zfs is cddl. They cannot undo, or revoke the free license they've granted to use and develop upon whatever they've released. ZFS is not dead, although it is yet to be seen if future development will be closed source. BTRFS is not dead, and cannot be any more dead than zfs.
