I do know quite a bit about OpenGL and don't think there would be any 
problem, maps can be splitted in tiles if necessary, etc...

I think though, that before thinking of a NEW render engine, an 
intermadiate step would be necessary : modularisation. I actually 
disagree with Yanning it can't be done incrementally, I actually did 
this approach in one of my projects. I started by creating a render 
module, and then progressively moved all render code to use the API from 
this module. Then, once it was done, many render modules could be written.

However, in its current state, I doubt wormux has enough developers to 
do this. I would however like to point out that should render code be 
modular enough, I might be interested in coding the OpenGL part.

Anyway, IMO fixing the network bugs and implementing better physics ans 
a better AI is much more important. It's just a shame SDl contains bugs 
but it's not wormux's fault
