I can see it both ways as to how to deal with data from hardware versus
having WeeWX calculate it. Some users that use WeeWX would surely go nuts
if what they see on their display consoles does not match what they see in
WeeWX. It would certainly make calibration very difficult. Certainly I
think this is not something that should be a decision for the driver to do.
I feel that some controls in WeeWX are the appropriate method to deal with
this as other weather software also employ this method to deal with these
issues. The software should allow the user to decide if to use data as
provided by the hardware of if to have WeeWX calculate it. I think
therefore the only point to debate is what should be the default action.
But then again I think that is not up the driver to decide but rather for
core WeeWX to decided that based on what data is available from hardware
what should be the default.
