Well aware that the manner in which the Rel Offset is determined does not
apply the proper standard temperature profile. That's why I said it may
have been more appropriate to map it to altimeter. Reasoning was at least
it was a static numeric offset, coming closer to altimeter , and certainly
not even close to being proper for barometer.
Totally happy with only using the gw1000 value from Absolute Pressure as
weewx key pressure. Actually had considered this option, but didn't want to
raise hysteria at the thought of letting WeeWx calculate a value in
software that was available in hardware.
As Tom Keffer has pointed out in the past there are many times that given
the fact that some hardware has undocumeted, incorrect, or sketchy, ways of
generating some variables, that WeeWx can do a much better job in software
than the hardware can. But I think as users most of us are hesitant to
acknowledge this and want to defer to the hardware.
