I haven't read most of this discussion but I've read this same subject
in the past.
Today I stand with those who agree that it should be a web2py based
solution.
I agree with the fragmentation of the documentation/FAQ but I think it
would be more valuable to make something to handle these and other
problems based on web2py.

Many things are already done, no need to start from the 0 and reinvent
the wheel. I would call Massimo (the boss :) ) to review my idea and
to try to architect it by delegating tasks (if necessary) for
available contributors (not necessary to be the ones in the official
list) with reasonable timelines.

If no "man" power is found and if you are not into my idea, I would go
to Trac (though its wiki it's nothing special).
