So one makes the choice to either disable it or live with the music
playying att times scenario.
Tghink I'll leave it disabled unless I find in the future that I'm
missing calls that I actually wanted to accept.

By switching this setting, can you still start and stop media when
there is no call coming in? I see the value of disabling that
crossover confusion but do find the magic tap useful for media in general.

I went into settings, accessibility, VoiceOver, Commands, and turned
off Magic tap fork media, so now it works to answer the phone without
starting music playing.
This is a 16 pro running iOS 26.
Earphones can still answer by tapping the button too.
Certain earphones, I suspect by Apple, and maybe others you can tell
Siri to answer.
