It's very possible that the network gave it a second season to keep Colbert happy, since he owns part of the show. But I guess the feeling now is that a 12:37 show is not that important anymore. "Nightline" will stay on because News will demand it, but if and when Meyers replaces Fallon "Late Night" will be toast (or vice versa, if everyone keeps kissing Trump's butt).
