Hi,
To test it, I went to message area, without typing anything, I did the
process, and Talks still says 161.
By the way, there's a pause in between 160 and 1. Not sure what does it
mean!
Perhaps Stephen was right about the cell provider, perhaps my provider only
allows me 160 characters for messaging.

You're probably right, but I do know Talks used to handle this differently
in older versions. For example, I remember when it would announce the
number of remaining characters after every character you typed. 5.00.3 and
5.01.1 probably both handle it the same way though. What does it say when
you press Talks followed by the long press of soft key 2 before you start
typing anything? Maybe your text messages start out with 170 characters
instead of 160.

Mine is version 5.0, I don't think it's due to Talks version issue.

I tried it, and Talks says 150(1). I'm running Talks 5.01.1 on and E71X.

While you are in the open message do a talks then long press of soft
key 2
and that should give you what you want.

Hi. I'm sorry to ask this question again, but since the archive isn't
searchable, I don't have a hope in hell of finding the answer in
there.
Is there a way of checking how many characters you have written in a
text? Say you're writing a tweet and you want to know if you've
reached
140 characters. I thought someone had suggested one, but back then I
didn't do twitter.
Thanks if someone can refresh my foggy memory.
Carin
