In SeaMonkey, if I click on edit / preferences then browser / helper
applications and scroll down a bit I've got an entry for pls File and
the action is use VLC media player 2.1.1

If you have an entry for 'pls File', what's it set to? Change it to
"always ask" and see if you can then go to kcea.org, click on the
Philco and select RealPlayer, Winamp, or VLC to open the file with.

If you don't have an entry for 'pls File' .... how do you feel about
editing mimeTypes.rdf?
