I've read the archives, and I've seen numerous answers to posts saying that it's not supported. My question was to the developers - would they (you) consider adding it to a future version of spamassassin?

It's not just a matter of not wanting to include it (although there has been debate on whether doing so is a good idea or not), it's a matter of not being in the same domain.

You might use a ruler to figure out where to cut a piece of wood, but you don't use the ruler to cut it, you use a saw.

SpamAssassin is like that ruler. Procmail, Qmail, a milter or whatever hands the message to SpamAssassin and gets it back with a pencil mark and some notes. That calling program expects to get something back, at which point it's the job of that program to deliver the message, accept it, reject it, delete it, etc.

To make another analogy, asking SpamAssassin to delete a message is like asking a theater critic to close down a show. SA can influence the mail delivery or transport program, just as a critic can influence theatergoers (and by extension, show producers and theater owners), but neither SA nor the critic is in a position to lower the curtain alone.
