Same here.

I had some not so nice experiences with the CPAN module updating and
installing all kinds of modules (and perl), which I didn't want. It
also is only useful if you just have one computer. Distributing the
same setup on multiple machines is much easier with RPM and something
like yum or apt.

Or another even better word: cpanflute2 (provided by RPM::Specfile),
works a lot better in my opinion.
